October 14, 2006

Well, it's finally here. The day you've been waiting oh so long for! Of course I'm talking about the latest update! Right now there are a ton of all new illustrations and sketches. Plus, the comics page has BLOWN UP! There is lots of new content for you to see there. Also the links page has been completely redesigned and is sporting a spiffy new illustration!

If you'll look to my left, you'll see the topic of my next awesome anouncement (I'm full of it today): the Love Damned Love chapbook! It's full of talented artists and writers (myself included), and it's ready to scare you silly! It's going to be available very soon and all you have to do is go to www.shinyhoohaa.blogspot.com and order the damned thing! I know all you fans of gory, macabe, horror will be anxious to get your hands on it.

Another thing I've been thinking about is that the site has recently come across it's 2 year anniversary and it might be time for a change. I'm looking into re-designing the entire website and in the interest of laziness I thought I'd ask you, my visitors, if you had any suggestions of what you might like to see change. If there's something you don't like about the site let me know, or if you just have a suggestion that you think might make things look cooler around here send it on to me. I'm all ears.

On a sadder note I just wanted to announce that my monthly column, Reading Between the Panels, that appeared in tastes like chicken has been cancelled. On the bright side, that should free up some time for me to set fire to a few other projects that I've been working on. I've got some really cool merchandise in the works and i hope to have it ready to start selling by the end of the year so check back periodically for updates. Or to be kept informed on any events just hop on over to the contact page and sign up for my mailing list. That way you won't miss a thing.

Now get busy, you've got a bunch of stuff to look at!!

August 2, 2006

I've got a massive website update coming soon! Don't lose hope! And I swear this is going to be enormous! Keep checking back regularly, or sign up for the mailing list to make sure you don't miss it.

Later!

"Respectfully, senators, I believe that the American intelligence business has too much become the football in American political discourse....Accountability is one thing -- and we will have it -- but true accountability is not served by inaccurate, harmful and illegal public disclosures"—CIA director nominee Gen. Michael Hayden during Senate Intelligence Committee nomination hearings.

You don't need to know how we protect you, just know that we are. And you sure as hell better not start asking questions when you suddenly hear us dragging your neighbors and their families out of their homes in the middle of the night never to be seen again. Or if we start collecting people who write things that we consider "dangerous" on their websites....

How many times do these people have to fuck us before we wake up??

May 15, 2006

Well, here it is everybody. After an extremely busy few months, I've got one large update for yoiur viewing pleasure. First though I'd like to announce that The 8th issue of tastes like chicken just hit the shelves across the US and Canada. This issue is the best of them yet! With a new slick cover stock and some changes in the content line up, this magazine is on the cusp of commercial greatness. You can go here to reserve your copy today, or you can visit retailers across the country including Tower Records and Barnes and Noble to personally pick up a copy. And if you don't see it on the shelf, ask a register monkey to order one for you, cause they can.

Now on to the update. While I do have lots of new stuff for you to enjoy (ie-nine new illustrations in the Illustration Gallery and four new sketches in the Sketch Gallery), I've got more coming that I'm either still building or waiting for clearance to publish. Most of that content involves the Comics Gallery so prepare for some really cool stuff to appear there very soon. But I'll let you know about that later. Also keep an eye on the Links page for soon it will have an all new design and new cool stuff I've come across from all over the internet. Because here at jmilillustration.com, it's not just about seeing and buying my art (hint, hint) it's about educating the public to all kinds of cool stuff. So take your time, grab a drink, settle into your chair, and take a good long look at what I've got on display here. I know you'll have a great time.

November 21, 2005

Welcome one and welcome all! It's good to see some familiar faces out there, and it's also nice to see you newcomers. Hopefully some of you have stopped by from speaking with me at Mid-Ohio Con Thanksgiving weekend (yeah, I'm psychic didn't I mention that?). I couldn't be happier you're here. Why is that you ask? This day marks the grand unveiling of the brand new spectacular Merchandise Page! There's tons of stuff to peruse and purchace so don't be shy, get over there! And if you are one of the new ones here please stay and see all the cool art I have to show you. And as always, if you have any questions, comments, feedback, snide remarks, insults, penis jokes, allegories, illuminations, ephiphanies, outrage, or just feel like talking to a sensitive yet playful and Debonair person send me an email. I'm told you can never have too many friends, however I wouldn't know.

Hey there jokers! It's been a wild couple of months and now it's update time again! This time I've got a few new illustrations, a couple of new links and some sample pages from issue number 1 of The Wannabes, a book that I recently grayscaled for Ronin Studios. I also recently illustrated some pages for Ronin writer Nathan Patton to be used in an upcoming anthology of his work. I'll keep you updated on that one.

On a bit of a sadder note, I'm sorry to say that I've just been too busy to adequately put together and promote the Halloween Art Contest this year, so I'm going to have to put it on hiatus. However, I plan to organize it in bits throughout this coming year and bring it back way cooler in 2006.

The Commissions and Merchandise pages are still in the works, but if you see an illustration (or more) on the site you'd like to purchase a print of send me an email and I'll respond with pricing info and shipment details.

That's about it for now so enjoy your viewing and come back many, many times for I have a pet dragon that feeds on the hits my website gets. You wouldn't want him to starve, now would you?

Here it is folks! The long awaited and anticipated update to my website! And boy-oh-boy do I have some treats for you! Brand spankin' new Illustrations, Sketches, Links, a brand new 4-page comic called Smiley's Story, and some comic book work that I've had the pleasure to do for a little group of folks called Ronin Studios!

But before you get to the looking, let me fill you in on some goings on that are coming up!

1. In the near future, I plan on putting up a purchase/buy/merchandise page. On that page there will be info on buying prints of nearly any piece of artwork on the site! So look around and make some notes of the pieces you'd like to have decorating your walls. I'll also be opening up the doors on comissioned work on that page as well. Just tell me what you'd like to see and I'll do a piece specifically tailored to your needs! Start saving your pennies now everybody!

2. If you come to the site even semi-regularly you may have noticed that I occasionally make some little tweaks to the functionality of the site. For this update I did alot of tightening of pages, some required only little pinches here and there and some pages I've overhauled completely. If you've got the time, let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions for me let me know. I mean, you guys are the ones who actually have to navigate the site, right?

3. The announcement of the 2nd annual Haunted Haloween Art Contest will be coming out soon. I'm going to start things of earlier than last year because I want to change things around a little. Stay tuned for that!

4.If you're planning to attend the Wizard World Chicago comic book convention from August 4-7 make sure you stop by the Ronin Studios table! They should be somewhere in Artist Alley, but I'll have more info on that as the date of the show draws closer. I've recently been doing some work for Ronin and a book I recently grayscaled for them: The Wannabes should be on sale at the con. I myself won't be able to attend the show but go and Support both Ronin Studios and the crazy kids from Tastes Like Chicken who will also be in attendance!

Now that I've gotten all of that out of the way, go indulge your eyeballs!

April 16, 2005

There's an EXPLOSIVELY LARGE site update coming very soon!

I'm super sorry the site hasn't been updated in so long, but I've been way busy. The good news is that I've got tons of new stuff to post! Illos, sketches, comics and more!

So if you've come across the site and want to be informed when I post new stuff, all you've got to do is send me an emailhereand I'll add you to my top secret confidential mailing list. You'll get a special update letter from me, keeping you privy to when I update the artwork here at jmilillustration.com. That and only that, however feel free to send me all the email you want. I'd love to share your fantasies, fetishes and intimate desires...uh I mean, well yeah that's all. EMAIL me!

November 3, 2004

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the first ever Jmilillustration.com site update! And boy do we have a show for you! First, let me start by congratulating Alex Chung for winning my first annual Haunted Halloween contest! His topic submission was "a papercut to the eye" and boy did that drawing come out gruesome. It's right over there to your left for your viewing pleasure.
On to Business. I've got seven new illustrations up in the illustration gallery and a new four page comic written by my buddy Rob Adams that will serve as the intro to a story we're working on called Crisis of Faith. Check it out and let me know what you think! I've also added a bunch of new links that I'd like you to visit. They're a wide range of friends, associates, and resources I use that I think are pretty cool. And please don't forget that when you've viewed every single thing there is to see here, twice, and then emailed me to tell me what you thought, you can head on over to tastes like chicken and read the hilarity they've got going on over there including my column Reading Between the Panels! So look around, enjoy, and if you like what you see, tell someone else! Help me spread the word! Thanks a lot everybody!

Take care and good viewing!

John

p.s.- Now on my contact page is information on ordering prints of any of the works you see on the site. So, now if you see something you might like to have decorating your home you can get your own high resolution print on a heavy coverstock paper. Order today!

October 20, 2004

First thing, I've decided to put off my official "first site update" until after November 2, i.e. the presidential election. While i know that my site is still very young and doesn't receive a whole lot of traffic, I can't help but seize the opportunity to try to sway those who may come here still undecided on what to do or unmotivated to do anything at all. It is my personal opinion that George W. Bush has put a terrible and unnecessary strain on this country and its resources going into a war that was both poorly planned and too hastily executed. The United States is now trapped in a situation that we cannot escape. We have to finish what we started, and can't leave until that country can stand on it's own two feet. We now need the support of the global community more than ever to help expedite this process. This support is something our President has stated that he is unwilling to seek out or, in some cases, accept. And our troops are suffering for it. If you truly "support our troops" (as I see so many bumper and ribbon stickers around town) you need to support a change in leadership.

Also our current leader has drained the financial reservoirs of both a federal surplus, and has plundered the social security fund to accomplish his goals. (But honestly, what can we expect from one who as bankrupted almost every company he's been the head of?) And as a personal observation, in studying history I don't ever remember a time when the United States was at war that the economy remained in such poor shape. What's really going on here?!

Another issue that worries me is the blatant and I dare say FLAGRANT pushing of George Bush's philosophical beliefs onto the entire American populace. Everybody has the right to believe that abortion is wrong. Everybody has the right to believe that homosexuality is wrong. And in a free America everyone also has the right to believe those things are right. Every American has the right to be protected under the law regardless of race, creed, religion, or sex. Do we suffer from such tunnel vision that we actually need to physically add the words "and sexual orientation" to that statement? What happened to "all men are created equal"? It saddens me that in this country people's civil rights can still be so violently trampled on. We can change that, slowly but surely.

Sorry to be such a downer about all of this, but if it has the chance to continue this situation will only get worse. There are several topics I haven't covered. The economy, the potential for a draft, unemployment, and I barely grazed abortion, but I think I've said enough to at least prove some kind of point. If you want to talk more about it feel free to email me at the address below.

Stop back after the election and I'll have a bunch of nice new things for all of you to look at.

Good luck and take care everyone,

John

September 16, 2004

Hello again everyone! Boy do I have some news for you! I'm here to announce the very first annual Haunted Halloween Art Contest! All you have to do is send me an e-mail here with your name, age, and some kind of spooky Halloween subject matter (Vampires, zombies, witches, monkies, its all up for grabs!). Of all the entries, I'll randomly select a name and draw the winner an original illustration (8 by 10 inches, or maybe larger!) based on their subject matter! Please enter only once! Also, I absolutely will not share your email address or any personal information I receive with ANYONE (SPAM can go to Hell!). And the rules are subject to change if I enocunter any problems with any of you rapscallions, or if I found that I've contradicted myself at some point (ugh).

The deadline for entries is Thursday, October 7, 2004. The winner will receive their image before Halloween so that they can show it off to all their friends at every party they're at!

And for the record, I'm planning an update to the site at the end of September or early October. More illustrations, more sketches, more links, and more comics! So check back then and don't forget to enter the contest!

Good luck!
